Thanks for stopping by! This is how we became an artistic dynamic duo.

Sterling (“stir-ling”)

A loving cat dad, clinician, and performer, Sterling currently serves as trombone assistant professor of practice for The Ohio State University. An S.E. Shires performing artist, he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Columbus State University, GA. Additionally, he earned his master’s degree in music and a doctorate in musical arts for trombone performance in 2018 from the University of Texas at Austin. A diehard longhorn fan, UT Austin was where this couple first crossed paths.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Sterling was exposed to woodworking at a young age. Assisting with home projects is commonplace and his living spaces are filled with handcrafted wood and glass projects. He loves to repurpose materials from nature for sturdy, one-of-a-kind pieces (frames, shoe racks, wine glass holders, etc). In his free time, he enjoys smoking meats, cutting grass, and landscaping.

Ceci (“seh-sea“)

As a recent graduate with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, Ceci is committed to improving the well-being of all communities. During the work week as a Project Lead in Recruiting for CoverMyMeds, she helps patients receive the medications they need to lead healthy lives. In her free time, she enjoys mountain biking, playing with their cats, and gardening with Sterling.

With classical training in piano, violin, and guitar, Ceci naturally gravitates towards music oriented people. Former president of the UT Electronic Music Club, she spends much of her time seeking live music events, painting to loud music, and attending Sterling’s trombone-related events.

Our craft

Ceci was enrolled in art classes from an early age at the El Paso Museum of Art. Her father, an expert sculptor, did not shy from indulging her interests. She dabbled with all mediums craft stores had to offer (beadwork, watercolor, pencil, chalk, marker, felt, pipe cleaner, papier-mache, pen, etc.).

As for Sterling, after regularly assisting his father and grandfather with home and other renovations, he gained a great understanding of how to safely navigate difficult projects (switching a light socket, installing large overhead lights, changing car brakes/tires, installing laundry washing machine parts, etc.). He has a great understanding of what supplies are best for what projects and which materials wear gracefully.
